Holiday Magic in the Magic City

A guest blog written by City of Barberton Mayor William B. Judge

The Magic City offers dozens of opportunities to make your own holiday magic this month—from must-see annual traditions to unique local shopping.

Here are a couple of our favorite local happenings this month:

4th Friday in December:
Every 4th Friday of the month, Downtown Barberton Arts & Entertainment District comes alive. Join us in the downtown Barberton Arts District beginning at 5:00PM and enjoy local food, live music and artists showcasing their work.

Breakfast with Santa:
Hosted by Barberton Elementary East PTA on Saturday, December 16 at 9:00AM, your family is invited to Breakfast with Santa. From crafts, activities, raffles and pictures— this is a day treasured by our community that benefits our schools.

Or if you’re looking for the perfect holiday gift? I’ve gotten a little early holiday shopping done at Snowball Bookstore and hear it’s the perfect time to buy local art at Summit Artspace on Tusc.

Here are a few other places known for unique, special-to-Barberton gifts:

Alter’d Relics: Known for it’s uncommon goods, Alter’d Relics is a mix of new and vintage items like scarves, t-shirts, and home accessories by local artisans

R-D Bike Shop: Looking to get more active? R-D Bike Shop customers come from states away for the types of bicycles not readily available everywhere, and because the team backs them up with top level pre-sale and post-sale service.

Closetology: This vintage store has custom painted furniture, stocked with top branded label clothing, and offers painting furniture classes (or gift cards for painting workshops).

ChiChi Boutique: At ChiChi’s you’ll find collectibles, handcrafted items and “upcycled” pieces.

Kave Coffee Bar: Kave (pronounced kawVAY) is a Barberton coffee bar, serving up the hot, iced, and frozen espresso drinks as well as gift cards for the coffee drinker in your life.

The City of Barberton invites you to explore our hidden gems and share in our annual traditions this year. And however you celebrate the season, we hope the magic of our city inspires you.

Happy Holidays!
