Bill Behrendt, Esq., legislative co-council at the Ohio Arts Council, is set to host an Advocacy Training for Arts and Culture, a training on how to effectively engage and advocate for the arts in Ohio, on Nov. 7, 2019, at Bounce Innovation Hub.

During his upcoming training, Behrendt will focus on the citizen voices that matter in policy decisions about the arts and the pathway to making those voices heard through advocacy. He will also discuss the ways nonprofit arts organizations and their board members can legally advocate for their sector.

“Every day, policy decisions are made that have a major impact on the arts. School boards determine how much—or how little—time and money are devoted to arts education. Mayors and county councils enact economic plans that include—or exclude—the creative sector. State legislatures decide how much to fund—or how much to cut—the budgets and staff of state arts agencies,” shares Behrendt.

Behrendt is a proven leader in the field of arts education and advocacy. He brings years of experience in leading statewide nonprofit organizations, demonstrating consistent success and solid results that impact policy, education, economic development, and arts and culture.

This event is free and open to the public and everyone interested in more effectively advocating for arts and culture locally, statewide, and nationally.

The Advocacy Training for Arts and Culture will take place on Nov. 7, 2019, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Bounce Innovation Hub, located at 526 S. Main St., Akron, OH and while the event is free, registration is required.
