DEIA Advisory Board- Kimberly Young

Kimberly J. Young, Program Facilitator for Leadership Akron, is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from The University of Akron with a BS degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice and holds of Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. 

A graduate of the United Way Summit County Project Blueprint Class 9 and Leadership Akron Women’s Network Community Leadership Institute, Kimberly is an active member of the community. She has served on board with Torchbearers, Project LEARN of Summit County, Akron Snow Angels, Jack and Jill of America Akron Chapter and Junior League of Akron. During her time with JLA, Kimberly served as on the Communications council, VP of Community Outreach, President-Elect and President (2016-2018). Kimberly was the leagues first Black president. Kimberly has also served on numerous committees including: Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve, Torchbearers Alumni, Project Grad, Greater Akron Chamber (30 for the Future Selection Committee and Strategic Blueprint Task Force), Athena Akron, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Women’s Endowment Fund. She continues to volunteer with organizations such as Akron Snow Angels and Akron Canton Foodbank. Kimberly is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Recent Achievements include: Crain’s Cleveland Business Magazine 40 under 40, Athena Akron Young Professional Leadership Award Finalist, Summit County Historical Society Women of the year and Greater Akron Chamber 30 for the Future.

Kimberly resides in Akron, Oh with her daughter, Kendell.
